Streamer Cinema is a (proposed) movie streaming co-op for filmmakers and movie-lovers. This co-op operates to benefit and empower you, the co-op members.

Reasonable Prices

Pay $10 in the theater for $0.75 worth of popcorn? No thanks! That’s excessive.
$30 for early access streaming of a movie? Wow! That’s excessive.
As a co-op, we reduce, or keep in check, the price to stream a movie without commercials.

When there are fewer middlemen and people in power inserting their profit requirements, your movie experience is more affordable.

No Pulp Fiction?

The current system tends to squash out of existence the creativity and groundbreaking talents of up-and-coming screenwriters, independent filmmakers, and underrepresented voices.
Example: A filmmaker pours several years and their heart and soul into finally making a cool movie. It gets decent reviews and lots of people watching. And all of the filmmaker’s blood, sweat and tears gets rewarded with… diddly squat… while the people in power sit back and make a tidy profit. At this point, most people are forced to throw in the towel and look for a better way to earn a living.
What if movies like Pulp Fiction had never been made? What if the creatives behind movies like The Big Lebowski had been forced into other careers after their first movies? Believe it or not, this is literally the choice that Oscar winning filmmakers are having to make today!

Co-op member filmmakers get the savings, the profits, and the power because Streamer Cinema is YOU, the co-op members. Streaming revenue stays within Streamer Cinema and the profits get distributed back to YOU, the co-op members. You don’t get any of that when you sell your movie to the others.

The top streaming services are creating and controlling more and more of their own content.
As a result, those streaming services have little incentive to give you, or your distributor, a good deal.
Besides, who wants “content”.

Supply and Demand

Quality aside, anyone can make a film nowadays, even if it’s just with their smartphone.
Streaming services (including the ones that don’t make their own content) have lots to choose from and there’s more every week.
The bar to get your film out there has risen higher and higher, while the streaming services pay lower and lower.

That’s the law of supply and demand.

The expectation, goal and intention of co-op membership is to put YOU in the driver’s seat.
